‘The Arranged Time’

Short Film 10min
Co-director & Production Designer
2004

Digital Betacam

Emulating the mis-en-scene of the modernist classic, ‘Last Year at Marienbad’; this film evokes a landscape akin to memory, dream and past life.
Commissioned Dreamfinder & Birmingham School of Speech & Drama.

Rather than the linear plots of traditional cinema, our minds go faster or slower on occasion. Its style more varied, richer – less reassuring: it skips certain passages, it preserves an exact record of certain “unimportant” details. It repeats and doubles back on itself. This “mental time” with its peculiarities, gaps, obsessions, obscure areas, is the one that interests us – it's the time and space of our emotional life.
